Roar of the Crowd

We want people to be ‘Twitching’ to tell their friends about Super Nova Stadium! For a lively stadium feel we pursued the implementation of Twitch voting. Providing a new way to impact players gameplay in various ways.

While AI is often used to achieve a similar crowd feel for games, they can’t create the feeling of a real human audience. Twitch viewers provide instant feedback to the players, while their gameplay is also enhanced with cheering sounds heard in the arena (created by our human collaborators at Berklee College of Music). Additionally, this allows a new perspective on the game as an actual viewer. Beyond being a player with a solar blaster, it allows you to instead be a spectator with ‘godly’ game altering power. Viewing the players as contestants in an arena.

Human audiences impact more than just players in the arena, they also facilitate free marketing amongst streamers on the Twitch platform. Plus, us developers have the chance to add new events to change the way Twitch viewers can impact gameplay. Such as earthquakes, low gravity, super speed, and so much more. How fun!

So… start your streams, poll the votes, Super Nova Stadium will be live on Wednesday, May 5, 2021!
